Dr. Harvey completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology at West Virginia University and his Doctor of Medicine from the West Virginia University School of Medicine. After an Internship at West Virginia University School of Medicine, Dr. Harvey completed his Ophthalmology Residency at West Virginia University School of Medicine where he served as the Chief Resident and was awarded “Resident of The Year.”

What caused you to want to get into Ophthalmology?

Dr. Harvey had an early interest in medicine and found himself in the pursuit of becoming an ophthalmologist since the 7th grade. Interacting with patients and building relationships is part of what drew him to medicine, and furthermore to ophthalmology. As a rural West Virginia native, Dr. Harvey has a particular interest in providing comprehensive eye care to the rural areas in the two Virginias.

What interests do you hold outside of work?

In his spare time, Dr. Harvey enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys recreational basketball, baseball, and golf. He also enjoys mountain biking, kayaking, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. He is an avid billiards player.
